I gave a teaser presentation on my current research project, &#8220;Development of a correction method for magnetic field effects on dose distribution using deep learning&#8221;. Recently, the fusion of MRI and external radiotherapy machines has made it possible to further concentrate the dose to the target and to reduce the dose to normal tissues. On the other hand, the Lorentz force on secondary electrons may cause unexpected local dose increase\/decrease in the dose distribution under a magnetic field, thus requiring a highly accurate dose calculation algorithm that can account for the magnetic field effects. However, since there is a trade-off between calculation accuracy and calculation speed, current high-precision calculation algorithms have a problem of slow calculation speed. In this presentation, we report on the development of a fast and accurate dose calculation algorithm that achieves both speed and accuracy by using deep learning. Despite many twists and turns, I am very happy to receive the honorable award, the Bronze Award of the Conference Director&#8217;s Award.
