We are pleased to report that the 1st Laboratory Seminar in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Tohoku University was held on October 21, 2016 at Tohoku University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This seminar was held to provide an opportunity to exchange information on each other’s research, as there has been little interaction between general students and working students in the past. 15 people attended the seminar, including 12 master’s and doctoral students and 3 professors. Four master’s and doctoral students gave presentations. Abe, a first-year master’s student, presented “Dosimetry of RALS using a glass dosimeter,” Ieko, a first-year master’s student, presented “Investigation of the effectiveness of functional treatment planning based on 4D-CT Ventilation in VMAT-SBRT,” and Abe, a fourth-year doctoral student, presented “Prostate proton beam therapy Dr. Sugawara, a third-year PhD student, gave a presentation on “Development of a dynamic variable lung phantom for quality control of deformable image registration”.
As I am conducting research on the influence of DIR accuracy on 4D dose calculation, Dr. Abe’s research on the influence of DIR on dose calculation in proton therapy and Dr. Sugawara’s presentation on a phantom for DIR accuracy verification were very helpful for me in my research work. The DIR accuracy verification phantom, in particular, was very useful for my research and motivated me further. The DIR accuracy verification phantom, in particular, allows us to actually deform the phantom and measure the actual dose, which is a research topic that is greatly related to my own research. I am also involved in the development of the DIR accuracy verification phantom, so it was a very meaningful time for me to deepen my understanding through this presentation and discussion.
It was a very valuable opportunity for me to listen to and discuss the research of senior students in the doctoral course, with whom I do not usually have the opportunity to interact. I hope that we will be able to have more interactions across master’s and doctoral courses in the next and subsequent seminars to make our laboratory even better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.rt-medphys.med.tohoku.ac.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/2016\u30bb\u30df\u30ca\u30fc.png\")
