Tohoku University Medical Physics Seminar, which is held annually by Tohoku University, was held on Saturday, December 21. This year, the theme of the seminar was “Patient Fixation and PTV Margin.

Calculating PTV margins for each site is a very difficult task in the busy daily clinical practice. I was impressed by the passion and dedication of the presenters to radiotherapy. I was also impressed to learn that they actually calculate the margins for each site, and that some facilities are gradually improving their fixation methods.
I believe that the seminar was very meaningful, with many of the topics that many of the participants could immediately use in their clinical practice.

The information exchange meeting after the seminar was also very enjoyable, with nearly 40 people participating, many of whom were engaged in heated discussions about medical physics and radiotherapy.

We hope to prepare another seminar next year with contents that will be of interest to everyone (although it is always difficult to think of a theme).
