2019.7.9:The 1st Tohoku university Medical physics skill up traning

The 1st Tohoku university Medical physics skill up traning in Reiwa was held on July 9 under theme of Measuring radiation exposure because of image guided radiation therapy with Assistant Professor Oono in the faculity of Life Science in Kumamoto university

■Date: 2019.7.9
■Venue: Tohoku University Seiryo Campus, Tohoku University Hospita

We are pleased to report on the first Skill-up Workshop for Medical Physicists at Tohoku University in 2019, where Assistant Dr.Ohno (Kumamoto University) was invited as a lecturer to give a lecture and hands-on practice on the theme of radiation exposure measurement in image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT).

This workshop was held with the aim of improving the knowledge of medical staff in the Tohoku region regarding IGRT radiation exposure control, and was attended by a total of 23 participants, including 5 medical physicists, 6 radiology technicians, and 12 students from hospitals in Miyagi Prefecture.

The lecturer, Dr. Ohno, explained the IGRT radiation dosimetry method based on his paper on IGRT exposure measurement in his lecture, and demonstrated and explained the measurement of exposure doses using actual treatment equipment and phantoms in the practical training.
The workshop was very meaningful as it enabled participants to perform simple IGRT radiation dose measurement at their own facilities.

We would like to thank Dr. Ohno, the lecturer, Dr. Kakutani for providing such a valuable opportunity, and the radiation technologists and medical physicists at Tohoku University Hospital for their cooperation in organizing the workshop.
