Yoshiro Ieko(M2)

We are pleased to report that Mr. Abe(M2) and Mr. Ieko(M2) participated in The 5th Japan-Taiwan Radiation Oncology Symposium held at Kobe International Conference Center (Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture) on May 20, 2017. The 5th Japan-Taiwan Radiation Oncology Symposium was held in Taiwan, and we are pleased to report our participation.

This symposium started in 2013 as an international symposium to discuss topics related to high-precision radiotherapy and has been held alternately in Japan and Taiwan. Kobe, where the symposium was held this time, has various tourist attractions, and the retro cityscape with an exotic atmosphere was very impressive. It was a great honor for me to be able to visit such a famous place as a conference presentation.

The theme of the conference was “No Pain, No Gain,” and there was much discussion about the various benefits and disadvantages of high-precision radiotherapy.
I presented the results of my research on radiotherapy using 4D-CT ventilation, which has been actively studied in recent years, and functional treatment planning that attempts to preserve lung function. It was a very valuable experience for me to present my research at an international conference. At the same time, I realized the difficulty of discussions at international conferences and strongly felt that I would like to train myself well on how I should express my research results.

Through this symposium, I learned a great deal about the benefits of advanced radiotherapy and the events that accompany it. With the new perspective on radiotherapy that I was able to cultivate at this symposium, I would like to continue to face clinical practice and research in the future. The evening reception was held on a dinner cruise, and the night view of Kobe from the sea was very beautiful. At the reception, I was able to have further discussions with people who asked questions about my presentation, and I also had the opportunity to talk with various professors, making the conference a very informative and memorable one.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the doctors who gave me guidance and the radiation therapy department for giving me this opportunity. Thank you very much.
