We held the Tohoku University and Niigata University Joint Seminar on Radiotherapy in Sendai this year, which has been held jointly at Niigata University since last year.
The purpose of this seminar was to provide an opportunity to listen to research presentations of each university at ordinary academic conferences and research meetings, but because of the short Q&A time at such conferences and meetings, in-depth discussions are often not possible. This is the reason why this seminar is being held. Therefore, this seminar will have a slightly longer Q&A period (8 minutes) to allow for in-depth discussion of both universities’ research, which is necessary for the advancement of academics and research. I learned a lot from the discussions about actual clinical situations and treatment policies, which are difficult to ask about in depth at academic conferences. In particular, I learned a lot about the concept of whole-brain irradiation in detail, which deepened my understanding.
The Q&A sessions at this year’s conference were again full of questions and answers, and we had heated discussions that are not usually possible at academic conferences, and I believe that these discussions were useful for the future research at both universities. We hope to continue to hold this conference in the third phase of the Cancer Pro next year and beyond.
