Yujiro Nakajima (M2)
I would like to report the participation of IUPESM World Congress 2015 in Toronto, Canada, on Jun 7 – 12, 2015.
The IUPESM World Congress (WC) on Medical Physics (MP) and Biomedical Engineering (BME) comes but once every three years. WC2015 will be in Toronto from June 7-12. This WC will be the largest gathering of MPs and BMEs from 86 countries. In looking at the content of the meeting, it occurs to me that this is truly a unique opportunity to discuss important Global issues, e.g., Global Health, Food and Water Safety, Environmental toxins, Personalized Medicine, Brain-Machine interfaces, Education and Outreach, etc.
I presented oral paper (The impact of audio-visual biofeedback with a patient-specific guiding waveform on respiratory motion management: Comparison of two different respiratory management systems”). In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness of respiratory coaching to reduce respiratory irregularities by comparing two respiratory management systems (SUAVE and abches). Our results showed that audio–visual biofeedback combined with a wave model can potentially provide clinical benefits in respiratory management.
I was really nervous because this is the first time to present world congress. In this world congress, I got more motivation to listen the research of others. I learned about the importance of English to understand my study. I will use this experience in my research from now on.
I gratefully acknowledge support for my research from members of our laboratory.
