We are pleased to report that Dr. Kadoya, Mr. Abe (D2), Mr. Tanaka(M2), Mr. Nemoto(M2) from the Medical Physics Group and Mr. Takagi(M2) in the Department of Radiation Therapy participated and presented at the 61st American Association of Physics in Medicine (AAPM) held in San Antonio, USA from July 14 to 18, 2019.
Poster Presentation
I gave an oral presentation entitled “Prognosis prediction with homology-based radiomic features quantifying tumor malignancy of lung cancer in CT-based radiomics. My research is based on a large amount of medical images called radiomics.
My research is a study to predict patient prognosis by extracting thousands of radiomic features from a large amount of medical images called radiomics. This time, I have implemented a new radiomic feature called homology-based radiomic features. This concept was proposed by Professor Nakane of Osaka University, and is based on the concept of binarizing CT images of tumors to measure holes. We have shown that homology-based radiomic features have higher prognostic power than conventional features in lung tumors. This presentation was not the result of my work alone, and I would like to thank Professor Nakane of Osaka University and many others who made it possible for me to present this paper at the AAPM. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude. During the Q&A session, three people asked me questions, including some sharp ones, which I would like to refer to in writing my paper in the future.

In addition, since the conference venue was in downtown San Antonio, I was able to visit San Antonio’s tourist attractions after the conference. I enjoyed eating at the River Walk, the most famous tourist attraction in San Antonio, and walking around the Alamo Fort.
This was my second international conference, but there were still many things I could not hear or speak in English, so I will continue to devote myself to research and English study.
