We are pleased to report that Dr. Tanaka(assistant professor), and second-year master’s students Ishida, Umeda, and Sugai from the Medical Physics Group participated in the 63rd American Association of Physics in Medicine (AAPM) held from July 25 to 29, 2021, and made a presentation. Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, the meeting was held online, so we had to submit our presentation materials in advance of the meeting.
My research theme is Radiomics, which predicts prognosis by extracting features from medical images. In this research, we have developed a feature set based on a mathematical concept called graph theory. In this analysis, we compared the prognostic accuracy of graph-theoretic features with that of features obtained by conventional methods, and evaluated whether graph-theoretic features are useful in predicting patient prognosis. The results showed that the prognostic accuracy was improved compared to the conventional method, but we felt that there are many points that need to be improved in order to be considered for clinical implementation.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the doctors who gave us the opportunity to present our results at AAPM2021, including those who provided us with guidance.
